11.11.23 : Medikeri:
We woke up to lovely birds chirping, even Peacock crying. Enjoyed lovely bed tea and were relaxing. We were called for breakfast of rice roti with chutney and sambhar and lovely coffee.
After breakfast, we went walking and exploring the plantation and saw different spice trees and creepers like
Avocados, Pepper, Coffee , Lemon grass
Cardamon, Coffee and Pepper seeds
Afterwards we went in the bus and were taken to Store where different spices were being sold. They showed how coffee was dried n grounded. Then we moved on to see the beautiful Golden Temple dedicated to Buddha
Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara in Kushalnagar, Karnataka
Visitors from all over India visit Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara which is also known as Buddhist Golden Temple. Monks in their uniform or attire go towards monastery for prayer.
The Buddhist Golden Temple, Kushalnagar, attracts a lot of visitors who throng the temple to see the 40 ft tall golden Buddha statues found here. Bylakuppe, near Kushalnagar town is one of the largest settlements of Tibetans in southern India and the second largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet. Here you will find a large monastic educational institution, Sera, a smaller Tashilunpo monastery and Namdroling monastery. There are over 7,000 monks and students in the Tibetan monastery. The monastery not only attracts a large number of young Tibetans seeking education and enlightenment, but it is also a place visited by tourists from across the world.
After our veg. thali meals, we went searching for Coorg Pork roast, which Ivy was saying Medikeri was famous. Right enough we got it at a Coorg Restaurant and we packed two packets and took it to our resort and got it heated and we enjoyed it.
